District 0

by Andrea Kessler

The idea of the project is the reorganozation of the urban structure of vienna. By introducing a third linear element beneath the danube and the danube channel, the monocentric vienna should be forced.

Continuity on multiple grounds
Continuity characterizes the district.
It is a floating landscape, artificially, as well as naturally, and both forms are interacting and constantly changing.
The structure mutates according to individual needs and rules of the different sites.
Sometimes it´s interacting with the old but sometimes totally replacing it.

Linearity
Establishing topography within the district benefits the idea of the district zero standing out against the city.
Erasing the ground-level heightens the feeling of continuity. using looping and interweaving stripes, the architectual language also supports the idea of linearity and flow.
